Oakland A’s Injury Round Up

The trade deadline came and went with no moves from the Athletics.  However, the A’s will be adding from within soon enough as more than a few guys look to come off the Disabled List over the next two weeks.  Here is a look at the A’s current injury situation.

  • Coco Crisp took some swings in the batting cages before today’s game. He is progressing, but still considered day to day.
  • Pennington hit the batting cages for the first time today since going on the disabled list.  They will continue to chart his progress but regardless of how he is feeling, Pennington will head to Sacramento for at least a few rehab starts before  rejoining the team.
  • McCarthy started a rehab game in Reno last night, throwing 66 pitches over 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits and six earned while striking out two. While the numbers don’t look good, it is much more about how McCarthy feels today, which is apparently good.  He will throw a bullpen session later in the week but Bob Melvin said there is a “good chance” he will make another rehab start before coming back to the rotation.
  • Brett Anderson made a rehab start earlier today, throwing 73 pitches over four innings. Anderson allowed two runs on four hits and struck out four. If he is feeling well tomorrow, he could rejoin the rotation in the next week or two, assuming there is a spot for him.
