Marcus Lattimore is edging closer to a return.
“He’s doing well,” said San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh at a press conference on Friday. “There’s really, there’s been gains, but that’s where we’re at, not quite there yet.”
Harbaugh refused to say that the second-year running back is destined to start the season on the non-football injury list.
“I don’t think [I would] make any assumptions. He’s making gains every day.”
As Harbaugh explained, he hasn’t been monitoring Lattimore’s rehab “personally,” but he has received “good reports” from the team’s training staff. The 22-year-old can often be seen running sprints and taking part in agility drills on a side field at the 49ers’ training facility before and during practice.
