The box score didn’t look great for LaMichael James on Sunday.
In his first game back since sustaining a dislocated elbow, the San Francisco 49ers running back rushed for just nine yards on seven carries. While the numbers were lacking, there was another aspect of his game that James was working on. As the 24-year-old explained, he was looking to prove a point to everyone who has questioned his ability to pass protect.
“I take it personal. It’s something that I really wanted to work on. Ever since I got here, you know, without pass blocking a lot at Oregon, it’s probably one of the weaknesses in my game. So I take it very seriously.”
And is it still a weakness?
“Nope. It’s not to me. I’m going to go out there, and I’m going to keep doing what I do. I’m not going to say I’m the best pass blocker yet, but I’m much improved.”
