Before the 49ers’ 23-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, GM Trent Baalke confirmed via Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle that Smith had already met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell at any undisclosed time following the team’s arrival on the east coast on Tuesday night. In early July, ESPN NFL Insider Bill Polian had suggested that he expected Smith to receive a three-game ban “at most.”
When asked about Smith during the post game press conference, head coach Jim Harbaugh didn’t have much to offer.
“Yea, I really haven’t been briefed on that.”
The outside linebacker was dressed for the game against the Ravens, but didn’t take part in the action.
