The “Rise Guys” are back—well at least two-thirds of them.
Mark Kreidler and Whitey Gleason are set to begin hosting an afternoon show on ESPN 1320 AM in Sacramento starting on July 28. The show will be on the air from 2pm to 6pm.
Brian Lopez, the program director at ESPN 1320 is certainly excited to have the veterans in the fold, as he explained via the Sacramento Bee.
“We’re so thrilled to have The Rise Guys. It’s a perfect show for what we’re trying to accomplish. On the local level, they’re like Mike & Mike in the Morning, where they give each other barbs, are informative and entertaining. It fits our brand.”
The move has apparently been in the works for some time.
“We’ve waited a long time exploring ideas, waiting for a good opportunity, and this gives us a very strong lineup.”
Kreidler and Gleason, who previously hosted The Rise Guys on 95.7 FM The Game with Dan Dibley, were inexplicably axed from the station’s lineup back in March. Like 95.7 The Game, ESPN 1320 is owned by Entercom Communications. There is currently no online streaming option for the show, but ESPN 1320 tweeted, “We’re on it.”
Both Kreidler and Gleason sound ready to be back on the airwaves, via their Twitter accounts.
Kreidler also weighed in on his new gig in an audio announcement posted on the ESPN 1320 website.
“I think in the end we both got what we really wanted, which is a chance to be back in a place that we’ve both called home for such a long time. And honestly, feel pretty lucky to be doing this. So, it’s going to be a great, great, fun ride.”
There’s still no news on where Dibley will end up.
