The oft-injured Yannick Djalo has sustained a quad strain, as head coach Mark Watson explained following the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders on Saturday night. The attacker exited the game in the 65th minute after providing what proved to be the winning goal in the first half.
Watson commented that he hopes the injury is “just a minor one,” but also added that the team’s medical staff has yet to determine the seriousness of the strain.
“Hopefully his injury isn’t too bad and he’ll be back quickly.”
Djalo echoed Watson’s sentiments.
“I hope it’s not a big injury,” said Djalo.
During his press game conference, Watson sounded resigned to the fact that the 28-year-old could be set to miss some time.
“We’ll miss his quality. He’s a good player, but we’re going to let the dust settle and see where we’re at with him. You know, once again, the team that plays in the next game will come together and do well.”
