Matias Perez Garcia needed just over half an hour to find his first goal with the San Jose Earthquakes.
On Tuesday after the team’s training, head coach Mark Watson discussed his take on Perez Garcia’s first MLS action, which just so happened to be the second installment of the California Clasico.
“To throw him in in a game like that, at LA, it was going to be difficult.”
Apparently the Argentine didn’t get that memo.
“But I think he showed that he is a player of real quality. I think scoring the goal and having the performance, he feels really good about it. And I think he’s teammates feel good about it as well knowing that we’ve added a real quality player.”
Watson was also impressed with how quickly the new signing integrated himself into the squad.
“The time it takes to adapt to MLS varies for players that are new to the league and I thought from that standpoint it was a really good night for him.”
