Don’t count on seeing Alex Boone when the San Francisco 49ers open up training camp.
According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, there’s “no way” that the guard will be out on the practice fields on July 23 when the team begins preparing for the upcoming season.
It’s less than two weeks before start of #49ers training camp, and I’m hearing no way RG Alex Boone reports on time without a new contract.

The 27-year-old has been embroiled in a contract dispute with the 49ers since April and skipped out on the team’s offseason workouts. Boone is unhappy with his deal, which pays him $2 million this season and $1.2 the year after that. San Francisco can fine the AWOL lineman up to $30,000 for each day of camp that he misses.
During the 49ers organized team actives last month, head coach Jim Harbaugh explained that he didn’t think it was the “49er way” for Boone and tight end Vernon Davis to hold out.
“I’m disappointed in that decision, for them not to be here…not the decision that I envision as being the 49er way.”
Of the two, Davis sounds far more likely to show up in Santa Clara. At the end of June, the veteran said that a failed holdout wouldn’t be “the end of the world.”
